What is Community Access Support?

NDIS Community Access Support helps you enhance your life by facilitating social and community participation. Whether you are on the autism spectrum, have a physical, psychosocial or intellectual disability, this support offers opportunities to engage in activities, make new friends, and develop new skills.

NDIS Funding Categories

Funding for community access support is available in two main areas of your plan:

  • Core Supports - Assistance with Social & Community Participation: This covers funding for a support worker to join you in social and community activities.
  • Capacity Building - Increased Social & Community Participation: This funds programs and classes that help you develop new skills and enhance your independence, such as courses or volunteering.

Although these categories may sound similar, they each serve distinct purposes in supporting your community involvement. For more details, the NDIS website provides a comprehensive breakdown of these support budgets.
